Farmers Project

FARMERS PROJECT

About the Project

Technical Assistance for Farmers: Facilitating Agricultural Recovery and Mitigating Earthquake Repercussions for Sustainability (FARMERS Project) is a technical assistance project implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, with co-financing from the European Union.

Following the earthquakes of 6 February 2023, which caused severe destruction in the southeastern region of Türkiye, the Project aims to accelerate the comprehensive, sustainable, and inclusive recovery of the agricultural sector, particularly in the provinces of Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, and Malatya. The Project seeks to strengthen resilience against future disasters, enhance livelihoods, and improve food security.

The FARMERS Project is built around two specific objectives:

Within the scope of the Project, a wide range of activities are being implemented, including training programmes for farmers, on-farm internships, mentorship programmes, digital resources, sectoral meetings, and communication campaigns. Through these activities, the Project aims not only to support the recovery of agricultural production but also to foster an agricultural sector aligned with the principles of green transition, digitalisation, and social inclusion.

The FARMERS Project is not merely a recovery initiative; it is a strategic transformation project that lays the foundation for a disaster-resilient, fair, and sustainable rural development vision.
